Poetry, theater, music mix in Sharjah



The show celebrating Sharjah’s rich history will be presented at Al Majaz Amphitheater on January 25-26 and 28-29.

An immersive and experiential theatrical performance combining poetry and storytelling, early and contemporary music and stunning visual effects is set to captivate music and art lovers in the United Arab Emirates with the highly anticipated premiere of Narratives of the place. Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Narratives of the Place, which tells the story of the emirate and its extraordinary journey and achievements over the past 50 years, will be held on January 25-26 and 28-29. at Al Majaz Amphitheater in Sharjah.

Narratives of the Place was conceived and conceptualized on a scale similar to SGMB’s previous productions of 1001 Nights: The Last Chapter and Clusters of Light, and brings together artists, performers and playwrights from the United Arab Emirates and around the world to document the trip to Sharjah. and offer a glimpse of its future.

SGMB’s production will transform the Al Majaz Amphitheater into a stunning spectacle of engaging visuals, poetry and drama to bring the memory of the emirate to life, including its historic places, people and achievements through a blend of poetry and storytelling. The show, combined with inspiring music, will take visitors on a mind-boggling journey of massive progress in the emirate’s development.

The show reveals the emirate’s rich history, highlights the valiant resistance against invaders, shares stories and traditions of its ancient culture, and brings viewers to modern times with depiction of monumental development progress of the emirate in all sectors, including at the many international fairs and festivals it hosts each year.

Speaking before the show, Tariq Saeed Allay, Managing Director of SGMB, said: “The emirate development project under the leadership of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Sovereign of Sharjah, deserves a spectacular celebration and the theatrical extravagance highlights the history and beauty of the emirate.

He added, “Residents and visitors alike are well aware of Sharjah’s achievements and its notable status on the world map. Tales from the place will take the audience on a journey through history and highlight every step and achievement of the emirate with awe-inspiring scenes that are a brilliant visual feast.

To ensure the safety of participants, strict preventive measures will be applied in line with the UAE government’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
