Andrea McArdle and Donna McKechnie, two of Broadway’s most endearing women, who have appeared in two of Broadway’s most iconic shows (Annie and A choir line) bring their ever-vibrant talent and personal connection to Baltimore with this celebration of two of America’s most beloved musical theater composers: Stephen Sondheim and Marvin Hamlisch.
Overture with “Another Hundred People” by Sondheim by Society, Andrea and Donna take the audience on a musical journey by sharing personal stories and this collection of wonderful songs, finally looking back on the life they have chosen with “What I Did For Love” by Hamlisch de A choir line. Other shows represented on this evening include A funny thing happened on the way to the forum, some follies, a little night music and they play our song. Also expect songs from movies, including The way we were, ice castles, and The artist. It will be an evening of legendary songs performed by those favorite Broadway greats who were there!
Andrea McArdle exploded to stardom as a Broadway original Annie, for which she was the youngest performer ever nominated for the Tony® Award for Best Actress in a Musical, winning both Theater World and the Outer Critics’ Circle Awards for her performance. On Broadway, she created the roles of Ashley in Starlight Express and Margy in State Fair and was considered Belle in The beauty and the Beast and like Fantine in Wretched.
Internationally regarded as one of Broadway’s greatest dancers and singers, Donna McKechnie won the Tony® Award for her iconic work in the original A choir line, and his Broadway credits include How to be successful in business without really trying, promises, promises, business, in the city, and State Fair. She has also appeared in classic musicals like Sweet charity, A Little Night Music, Mack and Mabel, Gypsy, Follies and Annie Get Your Gun.
